Shower wall panels for senior living
A senior living bathroom gets cleaned more than almost any other room in the building, on a schedule housekeeping has to hit. Renovations happen with residents still in the building. The wall panel is grout-free, installs dry, and comes apart for a repair.
Nothing porous to clean
Touchstone™ is real 6mm porcelain on a patented mechanical track, and there is no grout in the assembly. Grout is a porous joint, and in a bathroom cleaned several times a week, that joint is the thing housekeeping fights.
- No grout joint anywhere in the surround
- A non-porous fired porcelain surface
- Nothing to reseal on a maintenance schedule
- No porous line for mold to sit in
Blocking for the accessories that go on the wall
Senior living bathrooms carry hardware — seats, grab bars, hand-held fittings. All of it has to land on something solid. In metal stud framing, 3/4" plywood or OSB blocking goes between the studs to give the track system its anchor point, and additional blocking goes behind that wherever an accessory is planned.
Accessory layout gets decided during framing. Those locations need to be set before the panels go on — there’s no moving them once the wall is closed up. Load and code requirements depend on the whole assembly and are a question for the project’s design team.
Work that happens around residents
An occupied community can’t absorb a week of wet trades per bathroom. A panel surround installs dry, in about a day. The disruption is one shift, not a week of cure times between steps.
Years later, that still matters. Touchstone panels are fastened, not bonded in thinset, so a valve or supply repair means pulling one panel and putting it back — no demolition, no rebuild.
Specifying it
Senior living projects route through our distributors.
Touchstone ships Q3 2026. Operators and design teams come in through our factory relationships, and projects route out to the distributor covering that market — with factory-trained installers and a manufacturer-backed warranty behind the kit.
Every kit carries 3 years of commercial coverage out of the box. Installs completed by a Factory Trained Installer to the full Pro spec, and registered within 30 days, carry 15 years. Read the warranty.
Common questions
Wipe down a non-porous porcelain surface. There is no grout joint, so there is no porous line to scrub, no sealer to reapply, and no joint to discolour over time.
Yes, where blocking has been placed for them. In metal stud framing, 3/4" plywood or OSB blocking goes between the studs for the track system, and additional blocking goes behind that to carry accessories. Locations have to be set during framing, and load and code requirements are a project-specific question for the design team.
A shower surround installs in about a day, and it installs dry — no thinset, no grout, no wet trades in sequence. There is no cure time between steps, which is what usually stretches a bathroom renovation across a week in an occupied community.
The panels are mechanically attached, not bonded, so one can be removed to reach the wall cavity and reinstalled afterward. Behind tile, the same repair means demolishing the wall — a much bigger disruption for a resident.
The face is real fired, vitrified porcelain, the same material class as premium porcelain tile. It is not a gel-coated resin or a molded plastic. It resists scratching and heat.
