The wall comes apart when the plumbing fails
Plumbing fails eventually. Behind a tiled shower, a mixing valve, a supply line, or a diverter means breaking the wall out and rebuilding it: demolition, waterproofing, setting, grout, and a room out of inventory for days.
Because Touchstone panels attach mechanically instead of getting bonded in thinset, they come off to reach the cavity, then go back on. The repair is a plumbing job, not a wall rebuild.
Anchoring in metal stud construction
Most commercial bath walls are metal stud, which is the first question a general contractor asks. In metal stud framing, 3/4" plywood or OSB blocking is added between the studs to give the track system a solid anchor point.
Additional blocking goes behind that where accessories are planned — seats, grab bars, and anything else that has to carry load. Those locations need to be set during framing, before the panels go on. The full assembly is documented in the CSI specification.
